Investment values on Quicken Deluxe for windows

I cannot figure out how Quicken determines investment values. For example, my total investments declined by $4,414 from yesterday to today. However, if I add all the changes by accounts per Quicken, they total an increase of $2,126. How come the Quicken changes by account don't equal the total change in investment totals??

Are you looking at the basis (the amount you paid) or the market value (based on current price of stock)?

The prices go up or down daily, so the MV will change, but the basis will only change if you buy or sell.

Yesterday was a bad day for the market, so the prices on most (at least the ones I own) went down almost 1 percent and so did my MV.

I am talking about market value. The value Quicken shows is not the closing price of the previous day and the daily change amounts by accounts do not equal the total change in the portfolio.
