Quicken 2000 Deluxe
I've been using Quicken 2000 Deluxe for over 25 years. I'd like to switch to a subscription for Quicken Classic. I'd like to KEEP my Quicken 2000 version with over 25 years of data but when I start to install Classic a warning that old versions of Quicken will be deleted. How can I KEEP Quicken 2000 and begin using Quicken Classic? Quicken support says it is not possible. Are they right?

Hello @KDeb,
Thank you for reaching out! What Support told you is correct. Quicken for Windows wants to uninstall all other versions of Quicken when you install it on your computer.
There might be unofficial ways to get around that. If there are, hopefully other users will share!
I hope this helps!

Why don’t you want to convert your 2000 data file? You can have more than 1 data file. Don’t you want to keep using the same data file in the new version?
How to use an intermediate version to convert to a newer version
If your Quicken was before 2010 you should have several files making up the data. The main data file ends in .QDF. All Quicken versions prior to QW2010 store your data in a series of files all sharing the same filename but with different extensions like - .QDF .IDX, .QEL, .QPH and all 4 of those files were rolled into a single-file .QDF starting in 2010.I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

@KDeb What version of Windows are you using with Quicken 2000? I am surprised that runs on a modern PC.
To run the current version of Quicken, you must have Windows 10 or 11. The easiest way to run two versions of Quicken at the same time is to have two computers and move the old data file(s) to the new computer.
Or if you have a reasonably new PC, you can set up a virtual machine on it and run the old version of Quicken there.

I'm running Windows 11 - and have been told for many years with each new laptop that Quicken 2000 will not run on new versions of Windows - not so. On each new laptop I've installed Quicken 2000 Deluxe using the CD disk I bought over 25 years ago. It is very complicated to convert - I'd have to convert to newer and newer and newer versions - such as first to Q 2004 then Q 2010 then Q 2014 etc. And I've seen and read about lots of issues along the way during these conversions. For a variety of reasons, I want access to my past Quicken data. With Quicken 2000 the back was done on "floppys" remember those? Seems crazy that I cannot keep my old version of Quicken for reference while beginning fresh with a subscription now in 2026.

Before I cancel and return Quicken Classic I'm still trying to find a way to KEEP my installed version of Quicken 2000 Deluxe. I'm using a year old HP running Winows 11. I have installed and used Quicken 2000 for 25 years on every new laptop since 2000 without a problem. I want access to my Quicken 2000 data as I move this year to Quicken Classic - mainly so my bank & credit data is loaded automatically. HOW? Seems there's gotta be a way - please help!
