Paycheck reminder is a negative amount.

What would cause my paycheck reminder to be negative? When it is entered, it correctly enters a positive amount.

This is from the Bill and Income Reminders.

And this is from the Projected Balances.

Two different negative amounts for the same paycheck.

I think I'm just going to delete this paycheck reminder and recreate it.

I'm running Quicken Classic Premier vR65.29, Build 27.1.65.29 on Windows 11.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

It's hard to say what could have caused this to happen. I think deleting it and re-adding it as you suggested is a good troubleshooting option.

Where is your data file located?
- You can see this by going to File. The first file listed near the bottom of the menu is the file you are currently in. The file pathway will be listed there, and that's what we are looking for.
Is your file being backed up/synced with any third-party services like OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive?

One thing you can try is validating your file. Sometimes this helps clear up inconsistencies like the one you are seeing. To do this:

Save a backup.
Go to File.
Select Validate and Repair file…
Check the first box for Validate file.
Click Ok.

Once the validation has completed, it will produce a report of anything it has found/corrected. See if there is any mention of a repaired paycheck/reminder, and let me know if anything has changed.

Hi @Quicken Alyssa,

My data file is saved in my OneDrive in my Documents folder: C:\Users\mrose\OneDrive\Documents\Quicken.

It appears that it is also being backed up by Carbonite, which seems redundant with OneDrive.

I just noticed after reentering my paycheck that it still is showing a negative amount on upcoming transactions.

I ran the validation and there was no reference to a repaired paycheck/reminder.

This is interesting. I had it set to automatically enter into my register. As soon as I changed that to remind me, the account became correct.

Thank you for following up. I apologize for the delayed response.

Storing or using your Quicken data file from a cloud service can cause damage to your file. It is not recommended that you use Quicken in this way. The same applies to allowing services like Carbonite access to the file you are actively using. It is okay to store your backup files in a cloud service, but we do not recommend storing your main data file there.

I suggest moving your data file to the default location, C:>Users>username>Documents>Quicken. Once the file has been moved, perform the validation again. Please check whether the issue persists and let us know how it goes.

@Quicken Alyssa Hi, I installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows and Quicken. I just checked and my upcoming paycheck is still negative. It's set to remind me.
