QuickFill Rules by Payee AND Amount [EDITED] (Q Mac)

When Apple charges my account for a monthly service, they often use the same biller payee description for multiple charges. This requires me to look at the amount and set a payee name, category and tag individually EVERY MONTH!! If Quicken had a simple "If .. Then" statement available for memorizing transactions, I could then say "IF biller payee contains Apple AND the amount is $15.96, THEN category = "A" AND tag = "B" AND memo = "C".

How could a company like Quicken not address this shortcoming. Other financial software packages not only do this but they also scan for recurring transactions like what is mentioned above and they call them out as possible "Repeating" transactions and promo the user to do just what I listed above.

Because of the repetition Quicken is asking me to do I will likely move to another more AI robust software than Quicken. I hate to do it but this is a definite problem.

Lets get this fixed quickly!!

@AKER That's a fine feature request. That said, I'd suggest you to set your expectations for this to NOT be "fixed quickly". 😉 Nothing moves fast in Quicken Mac development, as there is a small development team and there are dozens of feature requests already marked as "Planned" or "Under Consideration" which are likely to be implemented first.

Second, I'm not sure how likely they are to implement this because it probably entails also allowing users to set an "about" amount (e.g. amount range) for bills which may vary by a few cents (like a cable TV/internet bill) or a small range (like some utility bills). So the user interface and complexity of the coding to allow for If/Then conditions and variable amounts could be an obstacle to adoption. And if this doesn't existing Quicken Windows or Quicken Simplifi, it's less likely to be built just for Quicken Mac. But… it's fine to request it here, and we'll see if other users vote for this so it can be forwarded to the developers. (Idea topics need to reach 30 votes to be sent to the developers.)

That all said, you might be able to achieve at least some of what you're looking for if you create one or multiple scheduled transactions. So if you get a monthly bill from Apple for $15.96, you would create that as a scheduled (recurring) transaction in the appropriate credit card account, complete with the category and memo you want, and when an Apple transaction downloads around the date of your scheduled transaction, Quicken will match it to the scheduled transaction with the category and memo intact. (If Quicken doesn't auto-match correctly, you can simply drag one over the other to manually match them.)
