Lake Trust Credit Union is dropping Direct Connect to Quicken how does that affect subscription fees
I just got off the phone with a Quicken support person and they couldn't give me clear answers to my questions about why I would still have to pay for a Quicken subscription if there is no longer any connection to my CU for downloading transactions. I've been happy to pay the fee to get transactions entered with one click anytime I needed to, but if that goes away what am I paying for? Quicken guy says that uploading the file I download from the credit union will use a web connection and that's what the fee pays for. If that's the case I have the time to enter my transactions manually like I did back in the Microsoft Money days.
Does anyone have any experience using Quicken offline? Pros and cons?

You are paying for Quicken whether you use a given feature or not, Quicken isn't priced out by features. Only you can decide if it is worth it to you based on what features you can use.
As for letting the subscription expire and using it that way, it should be possible, but about 25% of the main window will be filled with an ad to renew your subscription and of course all support and updates will cease.
EDIT: Note that your financial institution might be dropping Direct Connect, but still support another way to get your transactions like Web Connect (you download and import a QFX file), Express Web Connect or Express Web Connect +.
