Duplicate transactions shown on category report when only single in transaction in register.
When generating a Category report, I get many duplicate transactions even though only one is shown in the account register. Clicking on either takes me back to the same and only transaction in the register.

Which exact report in the menu are you using? Are you sure these aren't splits to different categories, showing up under different categories in the report, pointing back to the same transaction? It might help if you would post a screenshot illustrating what you're seeing with duplicates in the report for a single transaction.
