Report Writer/System & Major Upgrade Needed to Quicken for Windows to a 64 Bit Platform
I have been a Quicken Classic User for 30+ years.
Quicken Desperately needs to be updated to a 64 Bit Platform. It is so antiquated in the User Interface and Functionality.
My recommendation today has is about the Report Writer and Printing Reports
I don't think there has been an upgrade to the Report Writer the entire time, that I can remember.
It is a 1990s interface needs to be brought out of the 1990s and into the 2020s. There are many many standalone reporting writers/systems that could be integrated into the Quicken like Crystal Reports etc to avoid a major investment of development resources and could be done through APIs.
The primary value of Quicken is all your financial data in one system but without an effective way extract it for analysis the value of Quicken drops precipitously. It is so difficult to create reports with the current outdated report writer and the fact that this hasn't been invested in makes long time and current users who are now paying subscription fees question the ongoing fees.
A small example is the non-expandable Window for selecting Accounts, Categories, Payees etc It is so small it makes it very difficult and time consuming to create even simple reports. I work using a 55" TV as a monitor at a high resolution, so I have a lot of real estate, to view data but have to look at this tiny window to select the accounts, categories, payees and securities to select the ones for inclusion. Virtually every other software product on the market except Quicken allows users to adjust window sizes to make data more viewable.
In addition, if you want to adjust what is included in the report & how it is presented you must export it into MS Excel and adjust it there.
I have a brand new HP Laserjet Pro MFP 4301. The Print dialog box in the Quicken Report Writer presents a 1990s print interface and the "Scaling" options are grayed out inspite of having a brand new printer. Previously I assumed this was because I was using an older printer.
Please upgrade the Report Writer in Quicken for Windows and Rewrite Quicken for Windows with all its functionality and features to a 64 Bit platform
