quicken forget memorized transactions and categories

Shortly after a Quicken recent patch quicken no longer remembers re-occurring transactions. For example if I enter my Credit Card name and select Auto: Fuel as a past category I still have to re-enter Auto:Fuel and then tell Quicken its a Debit and NOT a Credit.

In the past all I had to do was change the amount. If I do a split on my CC and enter Auto: Fuel & Household I still have to tell quicken it a debit even though both Auto: Fuel & Household are categorized as personal expenses within quicken. Again in the past Quicken knew they were Debits and the correct Category. My Wife has her own Q install on her own PC and sees the same issue since one of the Q patches so it not unique to me.

Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?
- Please provide the exact file path as shown in the example below.
If your data file is stored or synced through a cloud-based drive like OneDrive, is your wife using the exact same Quicken data file synced through that drive, or is she using a completely separate data file on her computer?
Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
When did this issue first start occurring? Do you know the exact version release number that this issue started with?

Your answers will help us diagnose the issue more effectively.

I have not done any troubleshooting and as I said it was either the last patch or one prior. My guess is the patch created the issue and since I have no way to roll it back what do you suggest to correct the issue?

Since this behavior started after a recent update, the first thing I’d recommend is restoring a backup from before the issue began. That can help confirm whether the behavior is tied to a change in the data file versus something ongoing in the current version.

If you’re not sure exactly which update introduced the issue, you can also try installing a prior release to help pinpoint when the behavior started. We do have this support article with links to previous versions that you can download and install for this.

That said, even if you identify a version where things worked as expected, we still recommend returning to the latest release afterward, as updates often include important fixes for other issues. In that case, restoring a backup from before the issue began while on the latest version is typically the best path forward.

Ok, so that link is past Full versions correct? Should I uninstall Quicken and then run the old version and import the current back-up in or go over top current version with old version?

Any transactions from connected accounts should be able to download into the restored backup file. Most financial institutions make approximately 90 days' worth of history available for download.

Ok, so that link is past Full versions correct? Should I uninstall Quicken and then run the old version and import the current back-up in or go over top current version with old version?

That link lets you download update patches for earlier versions of Quicken. There's no need to uninstall the program. Download and run the patch you want to use; it will change your Quicken program to that version.

We do many transactions actions so when quicken misbehaves like not downloading cleared bank transactions its up us to correct it. So hard to tell, probably a month or two the way time is flying by. I have just been limping both installs along, I thought it was just a fluke at first but now it getting annoying. I did do the file validation yesterday but no improvement

It annoying because I select these re-occurring payments & deposits, sometimes with different amounts and many times the same amount and Q prompts me if its a Debit or Credit and now its getting old at this point.

that's not going to happen and not going to risk it. sometimes, not all the time, it don't download current transactions so I'm certainly not going to test to see if goes back to 90 days

Have you had any success backing up your file and reverting to an earlier version of Quicken that predates the issue?

Haven't tried it yet but I guess that's next. Not going to get my hopes up but would like to try it later this week. My concern there is what ever is corrupted may carry over from the backup to the old version install but won't know until we try.. On this list of builds how far could I go back?

You can go back as far as you'd like, but I recommend using a relatively recent build that you're certain predates the issue.

I went with R65.15 / 27.1.65.15 and that didn't correct the issue. I suspect whatever caused the issue is now likely buried in the Qdata file & backups.
