Any way to maintain preferences between software updates?

Every update seems to change some of the preferences. Specifically, the one that bothers me the most is it often removes the Quicken toolbar. It is getting to the point where I automatically remember all the many clicks needed to reset preferences.

No, the updates are not removing the toolbar on my system, so it's something on your system. The first troubleshooting step I would take is to make sure your display resolution is set to your system's default setting.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\qw.exe" (Any thought of moving to a 64 bit program? Windows XP had 64 bit 20 years ago.)
The trouble shooting steps are that the preferences remain until there is an update. Then, about a quarter of the time, the toolbar disappears. This has been occurring for years. Restore it and it is good for a few more months. Sometimes other preferences like the size of columns go to default. Again, restore them and they never change again until there is an update.

@dandy48 A change to 64-bit would require a MASSIVE re-write, and would provide only trivial benefit.
