Develop a Functional Bill Update System

Would it be possible for Quicken to produce a working bill update system for those of us who don't want to use Quick Pay, while continuing to develop a workable Quick Pay system for those who choose to use it?

I had a poor experience using the previous iteration of Quick Pay and don't plan to use it in the future. Still, I would like to return to an automated bill update system so that I don't have to track everything manually.

I see that Quicken has billing information in Manage Online Billers. The information does not get forwarded correctly to the list of upcoming bills.

I posted this concern on the Community Support Boards, and it was suggested I post here instead.

Quicken Inc can't develop such a system, no more than they can develop a system for downloading transactions. Quicken Inc is a small company focusing on personal finances software. The "online services" are provided by companies that are dedicated to those purposes.

Quicken Inc could possibility look for a better bill pay provider, but they can't create a replacement themselves.

Personally, what I do to handle this is to just reverse the problem. I setup automatic payments with my billers at their websites. So, almost all of my bills are paid this way.

Ditto. Alternatively automate it at your bank if/when possible. I have been doing this 'set it and forget it' for ~15 years with no issues. The more 3rd parties in the mix, the higher chances of a mistake.

    Hi Chris_QPW,

Thanks for the review of my post and your comments.

Quicken advertises that you can "track and pay bills in Quicken". I don't think that is currently true.

I have an "awaiting next bill" message next to each of my upcoming bills, even when the billing information is available in Quicken and visible in Manage Online Billers. It is Quicken's responsibility to get billing information right and available for their subscriber's use, or they are advertising a service that they don't provide. It doesn't matter to me how they do it.

Automated payments may not work for all Quicken users, especially those who are tracking their money closely and may not be able to pay bills in full each month. Ultimately, we should not have to develop workarounds for a paid-for service.

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if the world would just live up to its "advertisements".
