Where does portfolio x-ray get the asset allocation?

The asset allocation in the portfolio x-ray does not match the investment allocation report. In fact, the asset allocation in the portfolio x-ray is substantially different (bonds 12% vs 30%). Where is x-ray getting the asset allocation information?

Those asset classes in X-ray come from Morningstar and originate from Morningstar's analysis of the stocks and funds you own. Morningstar looks "inside" the funds you own to make its own determination of the various percentages of each asset class inside the funds. I wouldn't expect the Morningstar asset allocation would actually agree with Quicken that, as far as I know, just accepts that asset labels associated with the funds.

In my case I hold individual bonds that Morningstar probably doesn't recognize. I was wondering if that might be the problems. Thanks for the response.

@Tom Young Quicken's downloaded asset allocation does indeed look inside publicly traded mutual funds and ETFs to determine the allocation. If you hold a balanced fund such as VBIAX, the allocation looks like this

Quicken's quote provider uses different criteria than Morningstar to determine what is a "Large Cap" stock, so the allocations may be different.

Note I do not hold VBIAX, I have given it a Security Type of Market Index so that I can use it as a benchmark on the Investing > Performance page.
