bank of america only downloading 30 days of data?

I am running Quicken Windows desktop and attempting to download credit card data from Bank of America. I am only able to update 30 days of data, but I need to update 90 days of data. Help!

I always download data manually (QFX file), but discovered today that Bank of America no longers supports that workflow, so I am forced instead to pull the update from Bank of America by opening the account, then choosing Transactions > Update Now from the settings menu. However, BofA only served 30 days of data, and I need to update 90 days of data.

Is there any way to retrieve more than 30 days of data via 'Transactions > Update Now'?

It is the financial institution (FI) that determines how many days of data it will download and as you found out there is no means in the BofA website nor within Quicken for us to be able to alter that. Most FIs now download only the last 30 days.

Depending on your level of comfort with exploring/attempting workaround options, you might decide that will be easier to manually enter the 2 months of missing transactions.

But if you are willing to put in some time and effort, here are some workaround options you might want to try doing. Make sure to back up your data file before proceeding.:

One option you might want to try is to see if BofA supports downloading of transactions data in CSV formatted files. If so, you might be able to import that file after doing some file modifications. See this Help Article about how to complete this process: https://info.quicken.com/win/import-transactions-from-csv-file .
Or does BofA support downloading transactions in CSV, Excel, QIF or OFX formats? If so, you might want to try manually downloading the missing date range in one of those and then download and install a free conversion software called ImportQIF from https://github.com/qpwSoftware/ImportQIF ImportQIF can be used to convert data in these file formats into a QIF format that Quicken can then import. It was developed and is maintained by a long-time Quicken user who is very active in this Community. Many have posted that it works well for them.
Or you might want to try creating a new data file and then add your BofA account to it by going to Tools > Add Account and follow the prompts to download data from your account into that new data file. Some FIs do download more than 30 days for initial downloading setups but I don't know if BofA does this. If it works: You can then try to export the imported BofA account data in QXF format and then import that QXF formated file into your primary data file. See this Help Article for more information on this: https://info.quicken.com/win/working-with-qxf-files . During the import process, if I remember correctly, a new account for BofA will be created and the data from that file import will populate that new account. Then you can select the transactions that were added to that new account (click on the to 1st transaction, then Shift+click on that last transaction to shade all of them > right click on any one of the shaded transactions > click on Move Transactions > select the BofA account to move the transactions to. Then you can delete the new BofA account from that data file.

I believe these are the only options you have to get the missing 2 months of data into you primary data file.

Not if BofA only allows 30 days when the transaction is initiated from their website. Q can't override the bank's decisions re-downloads.

But, do some digging around on their website to make sure that 30 days is the ONLY option. Many bank's have a "download older data" option.

And, downloads initiated from within Q frequently have a shorter timeframe than those initiated from the website. I've never heard of longer.

Since the download is initiated from Quicken, I would expect UI in Quicken (or a preference setting in Quicken) allowing me to set the date range for downloaded transactions, but as far as I can tell there is nothing like that.

I did check on the BofA site to see whether there was anything governing the date range for transactions which Quicken downloads from BofA. Nothing.

Of course there is UI on the BofA website to govern the date range for transactions I request to download from the site, but (as I discovered to my dismay, and as has been noted elsewhere) BofA no longer allows me to download QFX files from their site, so that's irrelevant to my issue.

Which I think means that my only option is to set a reminder for myself to initiate the update from Quicken no less frequenly than once a month.

Your expectation is unreasonable. Q can't control the decisions that the BANKS make regarding download periods.
