Hello again. I looked at my C: drive and found where I can save to One Drive and/or straight to my Documents folder in my C: Drive. My new question is that when I go to backup Quicken, my "Current data file name:" and "Backup file name:" are labeled "Quicken Data 2023_12_11". Where does that date come from and can it be changed to todays date or update to the current date when I do my backup? Thank you again. Greg
DO NOT locate your Q data file in any folder controlled by OneDrive, or any other automated backup. Doing so can interfere with Q itself doing a backup. There can also be data integrity issues if the connection to the internet hiccups during any Q file activity.
It's OK, to direct your backups created by Q to a OneDrive/etc controlled folder.
RE: date in file name. That indicates that when your creating a backup you're using the option to include the backup date (and perhaps time) in the name of the backup file AND that at sometime in the past you directly opened such backup file.
To get rid of the date in the file name do FILE, Copy or Backup file, insure that the target location doesn't contain OneDrive/etc in the path and turn off (temporarily) the date and time options.
THEN, open this newly created file. The next time that you open Q, it will open the most recently used file … I.E., this one.
For the manual backup (Ctrl+B) the Backup dialog, deselect the "Add date to the backup file name" if you don't want it to add the date and time. But you can't change the date and time, it the current date and time on your machine at the time of the backup. If the question is about an existing backup file, you can rename that whatever you like using Windows File Explorer.
And it should always be the current date and time as shown on your machine.
For the automatic backup you can't control it. The date and time are always included and should always be the current date and time as set on your machine.
