Auto Budget allocation after One Step Update

I use budgeting regularly to manage my wife and my spending. So I have a valid budget with categories I want to use for every spending transaction. After a one step update, quicken classic for windows will suggest a category like 'fast food' which is NOT a category in use for the current budget. But my allowance or my wife's allowance IS a valid category. How do I get quicken to NEVER auto-allocate a transaction to these categories that DO NOT EXIST in my current budget?

Thank you for reaching out! First, I recommend checking your settings by navigating to Edit>Preferences>Downloaded transactions.

Do you have automatic categorization turned on? Do you use renaming rules?

Here are my settings. I like the ability to automatically assign categories to downloaded transactions, but only categories that exist in my budget.

Next, please check your memorized payee list (Tools>Memorized Payee List).

Make sure your memorized payees use the categories that are in your budget. If there are any memorized payees that use incorrect categories, please delete or edit them (as appropriate). That should help Quicken choose the categories you want it to use.

With "Automatically categorize transactions" selected if you don't have a memorized payee that gets picked first, Quicken will guess at the category. If you don't want Quicken to do that guess, turn that preference off.

EDIT: and note that will leave the category blank and you will need to create a memorized payee to get the category that you want assigned automatically. This is the way I have mine setup. When a new payee is downloaded the category is blank. I fill it in and then select Ctrl+M to memorize it.
