One Step Update: Critical Malfunction

I could not be more frustrated right now and this has just ruined my Sunday morning. I reset my American Express accounts and now One Step Update has quadrupled past transactions to the point where this is truly not worth the time to reconcile and fix and I fear I may have to start a brand new file.

When I load a backup, it does so just fine, but now when I perform a routine update, it goes absolutely wild with dozens of new transactions across several accounts.

I want to be totally clear: This is not just the simple quicken quirk we deal with every few weeks where an account balance is off a few bucks and you have to find the culprit and matching transaction. One Step update is creating upwards of 4 duplicates PER TRANSACTION in an account.

To give an ideal of the magnitude, I went from having $2,000 in a checking account to now $120K+; not from a single lump sum but DOZENS new transactions.

This is absolutely inexcusable and feel that after a 10+ year quicken supporter that my time is likely coming to an end unless this can be resolved efficiently.

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. I’ll be happy to help you further, but I’ll need a bit more information to narrow things down.

To start, could you please confirm the following:

• Are all of your American Express accounts being affected, or only specific ones?
• What connection method are you currently using?

You can check the connection method by following these steps:

1. Open the account in question.
2. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the account.
3. Select Edit Account Details.
4. Click the Online Services tab.

• Also, are the duplicate transactions showing a Downloaded ID?

To check this:

1. Click on the Register Columns gear icon at the top right of the account register.

2. Place a checkmark next to Downloaded ID, then click Done. (If you use Two-Line Display, you will need to select Downloaded ID and Downloaded reference)

3. Review the Downloaded ID. This is the unique identifier for each downloaded transaction. It is used by Quicken to determine which transactions have been downloaded and which ones need to be downloaded.

• Finally, could you confirm whether Automatic Entry is enabled? If so, please temporarily disable it:
  Go to Tools > Account List > Edit > Online Services tab, locate Automatic entry, and set it to No, then click OK.
