Does this tool exist? A tool to merge two quicken files into one.

Example: Quicken_Data_User1.QDF and Quicken_Data_User2.QDF > Quicken_Data_User3.QDF

Wish list: Merge Accounts, Category, Bills, Income, Transactions, Securities

Thank you for your suggestion. A lot of effort and a lot can go wrong with this manual process. If it can be done manually it can be done with a program/app. As an IT professional my staff developed several migration programs that do what you have outlined, but obviously not on a Quicken database. Quicken is the expert on their database so I would have to believe it can be done by the Quicken inhouse staff developers. Just my thoughts…

There are several potential problems and decisions a user would have to make related to the files to be merged. This would make it difficult to automate the process and minimize the manual cleanup required. Among the potential problems:

Identifying duplicate transactions
Conflicting/overlapping Accounts, Categories, Renaming Rules, Memorized Payees, Reminders, and Securities - most of the items on the Tools menu
Security price history
Saved reports
Conflicting Preferences

But this need is SO infrequent, why should Q devote their limited resources to the matter … instead of addressing known issues with the product?

I went thru the process about 10 years ago when I got remarried. Yes, it's tedious, but it works when one diligently follows directions and takes LOTS of backups along the way.
