I have Quicken for Church Finances. Can I open a separate Quicken for an auxiliary of the Church?
YES, you can have multiple data files in Q … just do FILE, New Quicken File. You don't need another program.
Before you do that, however, are the Auxiliary's finances completely separate from those of the church? If they are, a new file would be appropriate. But if the finances are intermingled (other than normal income/expense items), you might want to consider just adding the necessary accounts to the existing data file.
You can customize reports to only include certain accounts, and/or certain categories, and thus report on them separately … but if there are 2 files you won't be able to produce a combined report in Q … you'd need to do something like export to ExCel and produce a combined report there.
BTW, besides my being a former bank auditor, my late Father was a partner in one of the major CPA firms … and his church's treasurer on the side.
