Hi, I have several vanguard accounts, and they seem to update just fine outside of my 401(k). Can someone please advise?
Hi @Sparksnorthern, Thank you for your post! To better understand the issue and provide the most appropriate troubleshooting steps, I'd like to ask a few questions:
To confirm the connection type:
I look forward to your reply!
You can see its set to Direct Connect. I tried resetting but it didnt make a difference. Transactions didn't update.
Thank you for your reply,
To troubleshoot the missing transactions, please follow these steps from our article on missing transactions/transactions not downloading:
Be sure to follow these steps in order:
1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Downloaded Transactions. The option Automatically add to banking registers needs to be unchecked.
2. Refresh your online account information by clicking the Actions Gear Icon on the upper right of the register, and select Update Now. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
3. Confirm that the Sort Order in your account is by Date; just click the top of the Date column in your account register. It's possible the transactions are in your register, but not where you thought they'd be.
4. Try refreshing your login session: To do this, go to Help > Refresh Sign in. After completing the log-in process, try running a One Step Update again.
5. Go to Tools > Account List and check Show Hidden Accounts at the bottom left. Confirm the missing transactions haven't been added to a hidden account by clicking on the name of any account that appears with a check mark in the Hidden column.
Please let me know how it goes!
I'm not really following your suggestion.
You want me to turn off global adds to banking registers, when its just a single account having this issue? You mentioned the transactions are in the register but not where I think they would be? I'm not sure how this could be the case considering the issue is localized to my 401k transactions.
Status is unchanged as of my last update and all other accounts are updating fine, including Vanguard Brokerages and Roths. Only the 401k account isn't updating.
Please review and let me know.
I am told that Vanguard is transitioning away from individual account transactions and is only providing summary information with the latest security prices. And that they are doing it gradually. I have had one account transitioned and have two others that have not yet been transitioned
Turing off automatic entry into the register doesn't prevent transactions from downloading. It causes them to populate in a section below the register for you to review and enter into the register. It is a troubleshooting step for this issue since sometimes, when transactions don't show up in your register, turning automatic entry off (or on if it was already off) can prompt them to appear. If it doesn't correct the issue, you can turn automatic entry back on.
If the register is sorted by something other than date, it's possible that the transactions are there, but not where you expect due to the sort order. That's why we recommend checking the sort order.
If you followed the troubleshooting and the issue is not resolved, then please contact Quicken Support directly for further assistance, as they have tools we can't access on the Community and they're able to escalate the issue as needed. The Quicken Support phone number can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday.
