I know this is not a new topic, but this is still an issue with the Quicken for Windows report generator.
See the example split below, taken from a transaction report with splits, sorted by date/account
The Date, Account, and Description (Payee) columns apply to the transaction as a whole, not to each split. But I want them to be listed with each split because I will generate an Excel table from this, and then a pivot table from that table. Both rows of the split need these three values to be properly categorized in the pivot table.
I know the Excel tricks to fill in these values, but they are error-prone and take time, including the time to change formulas to values so you can sort the table.
Why can't Quicken simply fill in these values in the first place? I want to retire from my volunteer job as treasurer for two nonprofits, and I don't want to have to explain all this trickery to my successor.
