First Bank - NC - what does Quicken think it is?

I use Quicken for Windows R68.31. My wife banks with First Bank of North Carolina. The name of the bank is so generic that when I try to enter the bank's name to set up account download I am presented with dozens of "first" and "bank" options - non of which seem to be the correct bank. The bank seems to be headquartered in Charlotte - like many other banks. Can anyone point me to the right "secret" name for this institution? Thanks!

If this is First Bank (of NC) based out of Southern Pines, then you want to use First Bancorp as the bank. Everything links back to them.

Their (First Bank) website indicates that this connects (if possible) via Direct Connect, and you will have to contact them first to set it up. (There may be a fee for this service.) The website also shows you can enable Quicken/QuickBooks from within the website.

DC is what I see on the Mac side, but on the Windows side, I see Express Web Connect as showing available, so you might be able to connect that way (and without a fee)

Another way is to download a Web Connect .QFX file from the financial institution. Look in that file near the top for the FID entry, then search in the fidir.txt file for a financial institution (with a name that sounds correct) with that FID in the numbers at the left end of the entry, there will be 3 numbers at the beginning (all the same).

As an example, my Chase credit card has <FID>10898 in the .QFX file. The entry in the fidir.txt is:

You will find the fidir.txt file at: C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist\2009

Be careful, don't make any changes to the fidir.txt file and use a text editor (Notepad or Wordpad), not a word processor like Word to view the file.
