How to remove auto inserted Paycheck? It isn't in the Income Reminder.

Hi all,

I have strange to me situation.
My old Paycheck is auto inserted into P Checking account, twice a month on 13 and 28, with amount A.
I have new Paycheck reminder set for twice a month on 15 and the last day, to be deposited to different C Checking account with amount B.
I can't find the source for that P Checking Paycheck reminder, but it just happened twice a month and greatly distorted P Checking account balance.
It isn't downloaded transaction ether, so nothing real is deposited to the account.

How I can fix this strange obsolete deposit transaction?

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this issue. If you're not seeing the reminder in the Bills & Income tab and/or in Tools>Manage Bill & Income Reminders, the issue may be file-specific. To check for file-specific issues, I suggest that you try validating your data file. Please save a backup file prior to performing these steps.

Validate:

File

Validate and Repair File...

Validate File

Click OK

Close the Data Log

Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)

Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

No, this didn't help.
I've run Validate and Repair File a few times, and run it almost weekly.
It doesn't flag this Paycheck at all.
How I can see those invisible Paycheck Reminders?
How I see list for Auto insert Reminders?

How long has this issue been happening? If it has been happening for 90 days or less, I recommend restoring a backup of your Quicken file and testing if the issue persists in the newly restored backup. I run Validate as maintenance.

For whatever reason sometimes it found Paycheck scheduled issue and it reported it was fixed. But, I have no idea why such issues have happened in a 1st place.

This current auto inserted transaction has happened for a few months, or 3-4 times I got such auto insert for none existing or visible Reminder.

Do you recommend to create new back up and restore from it? please, clarify it.

I will not restore 3 months old backup, as there are a lot of transactions I got to manage those again.

If Validate is sometimes finding issues, that may indicate that the file is starting to develop some problems. Do you keep your Quicken file directly on your local hard drive? Is it synced with any cloud service, such as OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox? If you're not sure how to view the file location, you can do so in Quicken. Click on the File menu option, and above the Exit option, it will list the file locations of the four most recent Quicken files you've accessed, with the one you're currently in at the #1 spot. If the file is synced with any cloud service, it will usually list the service in the file location.

Since restoring a backup from before the issue started would likely require a lot of extra work, let's try making a copy of your file. Making a copy of your file will rebuild all of the internal lists and database tables. If successful, you would then move forward with the copied file. To create a copy, please navigate to File > Copy or Backup File... > Create a copy or template (see examples below) which will also allow you to select a date range to move forward with.

If you wish to move forward with your entire data file, please check the full date range of your entire data file before copying so you can enter the correct date range if you do not wish to "shrink" your file by eliminating certain dates. Note: Unless you believe older data is causing the problem, there is no advantage to "shrinking" your file.

It's important to know that all online services will be disconnected in the copied file, and you will need to sign back in with your Quicken ID and reconnect all of your online accounts, online billers, Quicken Bill Manager services, etc if you plan to use that copied file going forward. The reason for this is that the new copy also creates a new and separate dataset ID.

I recommend initially reconnecting only what is necessary to confirm if the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, reconnect everything and use the copied file as your new main file.

If the issue is not resolved in the copied file either, then feel free to switch back to your original file. For instructions on switching between Quicken files, click here.

I run:
1. Validate
2. Backup
3. restored from the backup

Now I'll see if that hidden Paycheck will auto inserted by EOM or will not.
Yes, I manually removed that unexpected Paycheck transaction, which came without any Status, just empty for the Status.

So, I don't know how else I can see if the issue was resolved, but just wait till EOM.
No, I don't want to change my Windows date to the future, as it would impact my other services.

Any other recommendations to address this?

Creating a copy is different from restoring a backup. It rebuilds the file's internal database and can sometimes resolve issues like this.

If you haven't tried that yet, I'd recommend doing so and then seeing whether the phantom paycheck is inserted again at the end of the month. Let us know what you find.

I used top - Complete Backup data, as I want to keep all data range and history for my Investments
and restored from that resulting Backup file to new datafile, I moved original datafile to Old folder, just in case.

I didn't go with Quicken Kristina recommendation via Copy due to a lot of work and time to get new datafile to be operational again.
I need a few dedicated hours to spend on proper Copy process.
I will be forced to do it upon unwanted Paycheck transaction will be auto entered by EOM. The phantom paycheck.

Is there a way or a tool that can show all Paycheck reminders including the phantom paycheck from the datafile and related online quicken dataset?

I don't use Quicken Bill Pay.
The Mobile Sync is OFF. I had many sync related issues before, so it's OFF.

The datafile is on local C:\Quicken folder, which is NOT OneDrive or Dropbox or etc replication to avoid sync and corruptions issues.

On the Bills & Income tab, Income & Transfers tab, you should be able to see every income reminder (including paycheck reminders) that Quicken sees scheduled. You can adjust the dropdown to view up to 12 months into the future. You can also select "include paid" if you want to see reminders that have already been marked paid.

No, I don't see any paid when I check that checkbox, nothing added to the list.
I see exact the same list regardless of "include paid" checked or unchecked.

It might be a long shot but you could go to the checking account register > Clock icon (above the register and on the right) > select "Next 90 days".

If you don't see the clock icon: Click on the Gear icon > Reminders to show in register > select "Next 90 days".

Now all Reminders for the next 90 days that are related to the check account will be shown at the bottom of the register that will be shaded and will look similar to this:

Scroll down the Reminder transactions looking for your NEXT Paycheck reminder. If you see it:

Let us know if this process resolves the errant recurring Paycheck Reminder issue.

no, I don't see that phantom Paycheck reminder in the Checking account. yes, I see expected other none Paycheck reminder there.

a few days to wait till I know if the phantom reminder gone or remains the issue
