Last update FORCED by MS OS update required reauthorizations of all Fidelity accounts and ALL REAUTHORIZATIONS FAILED!!!!! All Fidelity accounts had to be reconnected and ALL TRACKING CONVERTED TO "SIMPLE" rather than "COMPLETE". Old transactions had to be re-reconciled!

Stop the FORCED UPDATES on reboot. I will choose when to apply a buggy update once all other users have been through the inconvenience!

How did an MS OS update force a Q update? Because it just doesn't work that way.

While MS updates might be forced, you always have the option to accept, or decline, Q updates.

[Removed - Disruptive]. When Quicken is opened, it automatically applies any updates, whether you want to update or not.

I usually put off any Q updates for as long as I can to allow the Q programmers to get the bugs out via complaints from other Q users.

And, I've never seen MS do an update without informing me so that I could close apps. And Q doesn't automatically update the program unless you agree to such.

Thank you for letting us know you encountered this issue. In Windows, you can prevent Quicken from automatically updating by adjusting your User Account Control (UAC) settings. That way, when Quicken tries to update, you would get a UAC prompt that will give you the option to approve or deny the update.

What process are you using when you try to reauthorize the accounts?

If clicking the reauthorize button is not allowing you to reconnect your accounts, then please backup your file, deactivate all accounts with the problem financial institution, and reconnect them by navigating to Tools>Add Account and following the prompts. When you get to the Add/Link screen, carefully link your accounts to the correct nickname in Quicken.

So where is this "User Action Console (UAC) settings" in Q Deluxe? Each time MS Update closes Q on an update, re-opening Q causes the update to be applied regardless of my authorizing or requesting the Q update.

As to re-authorize issue, I attempted to "One Step Update" and the finish is "Need to re-authorize Accounts". I Click the reauthorize and follow through with login, accept agreement and reauthorize accounts. Next attempt to update provides the same request.

I go through the same reactivate and as described, the accounts are set to simple tracking. The next attempt to update asks for reauthorize on half the accounts.

This only has happened since last update to correct the re-login issue.

BTW: deactivating and reconnecting 15 accounts is neither a "user friendly or reasonable" solution to you providing solid financial software.

The UAC is not in Quicken. It's in Windows.

Since the reauthorize prompt is not working to reconnect the accounts, deactivating all the accounts with the financial institution and reconnecting them is the recommended troubleshooting.

I schedule the MS Windows updates and close Q prior to the update. After the MS update I open Q and Q goes into applying the update I have previously deferred to apply.

As a "SUPERUSER", have you never experienced this? I'm incredulous!

Are you not aware that your software automatically and without authorization applies pending updates on re-opening????

That is why I recommend adjusting the settings on the UAC. You can check or adjust your UAC settings by searching for “Change User Account Control settings” in the Start menu and setting it to a higher level so Windows prompts you before installing software updates.
