New Account #, Same account...

I had 2 replace all my credit cards due to fraud. Some are just linking the old account to the new which is IDEAL. For those I had to set up a new account how do I get it to just give me transactions since the new card began vs. 4-5 years of transactions? Can I force the new to merge with the old or does each bank make it's own rules.

Where the change wasn't automatic, I'd deactivate the account, delete the old account number and re-activate using the new account number.

I continued, after re-activation, using the prior account register because, to me, it was all one account. IF you want to in some way denote the change, you can always put in a $0 transaction with the changeover mentioned in the Memo field.
