I had a call option that expired in the money and thus was exercised. There is no option to exercise options that aren't employee stock options. If I just remove the call option, my basis in the option isn't added to the basis of the stock purchased in the exercise. Thus, when I sell the shares later, the gain isn't correct. Why can't you add this functionality and if not is there a work around?
