Opening Balance

We have a new windows computer. Upon opening Quicken on the laptop we find that the account balanced are wrong. The online balance number at the bottom of the screen is correct. I tried to fix this with an opening balance entry, but Quicken won't let me enter a positive number! It automatically switched it to negative. What can I do?

What type of account are you talking about?

In that account register what monetary columns are you displaying? For checking & savings type account, the recommended columns are Payment, Deposit and Balance … and NOT Amount. For credit card type accounts, Charge, Payment and Balance are recommended and again NOT Amount.

And, do you still have the old computer? What do the numbers look like there?
