Jasmine if you're out there… I think this was submitted as a bug at one point? There were two recent discussions about it but it looks like they're both closed (see below).
@Jeffrey Jones did you ever get this figured out?
I have all my reports saved with the Lock This Report option selected. I never want new categories or accounts added to saved reports without me knowing about it because that would essentially change the report and throw off all the numbers. That's why there's a Lock option to prevent reports from being changed every time you add a new category, etc.
Anyway, it hasn't worked properly for quite a while. As many times as I try to lock a new report or re-save an old report, new categories still get automatically added to them.
There seems to be a few common elements to the problem…
- As far as I can tell, it only happens when I create a new Account. If I create a new Category, the reports are not affected.
- It seems to be specific to reports where I chose selected categories in the Categories tab. If it's a report where I left the setting to include transactions with ANY category, the reports are not affected.
- The particular transactions that errantly show up in the reports are also Transfers. Maybe there's a disconnect with the Lock feature that doesn't account for those?
