I have several hundred Amazon purchases that need to be entered for tax preparation. Many credit card charges represent multiple items, so they need to be entered as split transactions with categories and tags.
After working with Quicken Support, I confirmed the following:
Quicken Classic for Mac supports CSV import using the Mint CSV format.
CSV imports create a temporary account that can be moved into an existing account.
Split transactions cannot be imported using CSV (or any supported import format).
CSV import is still under development.
My question isn't whether split transactions can be imported—I understand they can't.
My question is this:
Has anyone developed an efficient workflow for handling large numbers of Amazon purchases in Quicken Classic for Mac?
For example:
Do you enter everything manually?
Do you use a staging account?
Do you use AppleScript or another automation tool?
Is there a third-party utility that helps with Amazon split transactions?
Have you found any workflow that significantly reduces the amount of manual entry?
I'm not looking for unsupported hacks that risk corrupting my data file. I'm looking for a practical workflow that experienced Quicken Mac users have successfully used.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
