QFX import file

I am using Windows 11 and Quicken R69.10.

I just created a new account and selected offline account for now because I wanted to download my statements and import them first.

Then after the statements were imported, I would switch to an online account. I went online and downloaded my accounts statements as a QFX file.

I went to file import and clicked on web content QFX file. I selected the QFX file to import and I get the following message.

“Quicken is currently unable to verify the financial institution information for this download”.

Why can’t Quicken import this file?

What Financial Institution created the file?

Because that message usually indicates that the FI isn't currently a "Participating Financial Institution", so the file can't be verified by Q.

In recent months it also means that the bank or credit card company has discontinued support for importing of QFX files into Quicken data files, "for security reasons", as they say. They requested Intuit to perform an update of their entry in the financial directory file (aka FIDIR.TXT), to remove Web connect support.
As a result you now get a CC-885 "Unable to verify" error when importing a QFX file … even though the bank or credit card company still allows you to create said QFX file from their website … go figure …

Activating your account registers in Quicken to perform One Step Updates instead of file imports is currently the only alternative.

Edit the QFX file in Notepad and search for INTU.BID, what is the number follows that?

That number can be used to look up the entry in this file to see if it is still supported:

When I search the fidir.txt I do see an entry for American Express (Id: 03101) which says that it is supported.

This can be told by if it has this entry on the line CREDIT&WEB-CONNECT (for credit card, for checking/savings it would be BANKING&WEB-CONNECT)
