I am using Quicken Classic Premier on a MacBook Air. Companies sometimes vary their names. Is it possible to search/filter for "Payee Contains"?
The main Search box on a register screen is a "contains" search. For example, if you search for "depot", the results will include "Home Depot", "Check Depot" and "Office Depot".
If you're dealing with transactions from the same company which come through with variations of names, then Renaming Rules can help with that. For instance, if you have transactions from "Home Depot Store 1234 Anytown" and "Home Depot #9876 Everyville", you could create a Renaming Rule like this:
That will make all variations of Payee names containing "Home Depot" have a resulting Quicken Payee name of just "Home Depot". The checkbox at the bottom allows you to retroactively find and rename existing transactions which match the Renaming Rule's conditions, so you can clean up older transactions as well as future ones.
