i have a subscription for Quicken desktop, can i switch to website based version in the middle of my subscription? Are there any instructions to do that?
Hi @Will L.,
Thank you for reaching out with your questions. In addition to what @Tom Young shared, yes, there are a couple of important distinctions to keep in mind.
Quicken Classic for Windows and Quicken Simplifi / Quicken Business & Personal (the cloud-based version) are separate products, so there isn’t a direct conversion from one subscription or product to the other.
Quicken Classic for Windows and Quicken Simplifi / Quicken Business & Personal (the cloud-based version) are two different products, so there isn't a direct conversion from one subscription/product to the other.
If you recently purchased your Quicken Classic subscription, you may be eligible for a refund. Under Quicken's current refund policy, purchases can generally be refunded within the first 30 days. If eligible, you could request a refund for the Classic subscription and then purchase the cloud-based product separately. As for your data, there isn't a direct conversion between Quicken Classic and the cloud-based product. The easiest approach is generally to connect your financial institutions again in the new application and download the transactions into the new account. Keep in mind that the amount of historical data available for download depends on the financial institution; in some cases, it may be limited to around 90 days.
Also, if you've created custom categories in Quicken Classic, you may need to review and recategorize transactions in the new product.
If you'd like assistance with the process, you can also contact Quicken Support. They can walk you through the options and the transition in real time. Quicken Support phone hours are currently Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–5:00 PM PT.
If you're referring to "Quicken on the Web", then that's a "companion app" that uses your installed desktop version of Quicken.
Apparently "Quicken Simplifi & Quicken Business & Personal (Cloud-Native)" is Quicken's entirely cloud based app. I'm not familiar with that version. Here's Quicken's page on that product:
