Cannot Locate Placeholder Entries

Question

Several of my investment reports have a footer that says "*Placeholder Entries for missing data are used in these calculations. Show me."

When I click on "Show Me", a pop-up dialog box "Resolve Placeholder Entries" shows-up that is entirely blank.  I tried clicking on Expand All button but nothing shows up.

Based on the reports, it looks like the issues is with my Brokerage account with Fidelity.  In the register, it is showing zero placeholder entries.

I spent 30 minutes with Quicken phone support who were unable to solve the issue.

I have done Validate, SuperValidate, Repair and Rebuild my data file. no errors anywhere. I have done a full reinstall.

Hopefully someone from the community can shed light.  Screen prints are attached.

Is one indication of Placeholders the asterisk in the "est." column in the Portfolio Value report?

I think that is bogus. In that report, an asterisk in the "est." column indicates that there is no price quote for the report date, not a Placeholder.

If there is actually a non-zero Placeholder in an account, I see that message at the bottom of Investing  > Portfolio views that include that account and security, and asterisks next to the affected Avg Annual Return numbers. Do you see these?

If you go to the account's Transaction List and there is a (0) next to Placeholders at the bottom and no placeholders listed when you click on that to open the list, there are no Placeholders in the account.

Also make sure Placeholders are visible by going to Edit > Preferences > Investments and making sure the Show hidden transactions box is checked.

NotACPA  and Jim_Harman,

Thank you for your suggestions. I had tried and confirmed all meticulously.

I completely uninstalled Quicken (deleted directory, registry entries, et all) and reinstalled the full latest version.  Then restored my full backup from a month ago. Did a one-step update and downloaded all the transactions from the time of the backup (i.e. month ago) to today.

When I did that, then it started to show two Placeholder Entries at the very bottom of the account register. Both were more than 6 months old. Resolving them solved the problem.  I don't know why they were not showing up earlier.
