This discussion was created from comments split from: Why are reminders automatically appearing in register without category?.
Here's a simpler (I think) issue that matches the description. I am also on R68.28. When I enter a transaction in my checking register, despite the checkbox in NOTIFY preferences to WHEN ENTERING UNCATEGORIZED TRANSACTIONS (this is NOT a download, just a normal manual entry), the transaction is entered without requiring a category to be specified. (Very easy to reproduce in a new test Quicken account.) Is this the same issue? What to do??
I have not experienced this myself, but will keep an eye out for it. But, my gut reaction is that somehow it is related to the initial issue of this thread.
I agree that what you describe sounds like a different issue from the one @Brian183 is describing.
Perhaps at one time you clicked on the "Don't show this message again". Doing this will prevent the Alert from popping up, again, in the future.
If this is what possibly happened: Go to Edit > Preferences > Alerts & Messages > click on Reset Quicken Warnings. That will resolve this issue.
If it does not, then I suggest you create a new, separate discussion Post so it can get the attention it deserves without detracting from the topic of this thread.
Gee, I never knew such an option exists. If the original dialog box in your post also turned off the checkbox in the NOTIFY (I don't think it did, but I could be wrong), it would have been clearer that I wasn't supposed to be getting these warnings. But be that as it may, thanks for your reply as indeed that seems to addressed my issue.
