I have a number of repeat autopay transactions every month, such as pay the water bill, pay the electric bill, gas bill, etc. I have to correct Quicken every month, as it might show electric when it should show gas, or water for electric. Why can't a mature software program remember such simple and repetitive entries?

The way to handle this is to create scheduled transactions in Quicken, which allows you to specify the category you wish. When the transactions download from your bank, they should auto-match (merge) with your scheduled transaction in the register, or if they don't, you just manually match them by dragging one on top of the other. The date and amount remain what downloaded from your bank, but the category remains what you specified.
