ALL charge transactions on only one credit card account record in "black" (i.e. credit balance)

Happened yesterday. ALL charges from all dates are recorded in this manner.

Happened after I entered a split credit card transaction for a rebate (I purposely showed it as income) and the balance as expense categories.

It affected all transactions from the very beginning. I deleted the transaction, reset Quicken, shut down the laptop, rebooted and the problem still exists.

No trouble on daily download from bank(s). No other accounts affected.

If you're showing a credit balance, something got changed in the account. The 1st place that I'd look would be at the opening balance in the account.

Unless this account was created, in Q, after you started using Q it had some value in the 1st transaction in the account.
Unless, as frequently suggested, you had previously recorded the correct amount in the Memo field of that transaction, you'll need to restore from a backup TO A DIFFERENT FILE NAME (so as to not overwrite your current file) to determine what that amount should be.

BUT, double-checking what you're saying … it's the BALANCE figures that are black, and not the amounts in the CHARGE column that you're talking about. Are those figures properly showing in the CHARGE column … and not the Payment column? And, the use of the AMOUNT column isn't recommended because it tends to get confusing.

To clarify: I entered 1) transaction and split it into 2) categories: 1 as income and the 2nd one as an expense. Total transaction matched what was initially entered in the register.

Cash flow reports are correct; just the credit card register are all backwards. Charges showing as debits (black balance in register) and payments showing as credits (red balance in register)

But what was the NET amount of those 2 split lines? A net CHARGE, or a NET Payment?

And, was that just an ordinary card transaction … or the Opening Balance transaction?

Also, are the Charge and Payment transactions appearing in the correct columns in Q?

As suggested, did you check the Opening Balance of that CC account?

Q is doing the math correctly, the balance of a credit card is generally negative (red) unless you have overpaid. The charges are reducing the positive balance as expected trying to make it negative, but there is something wrong in the part not shown.

Either the OB has changed or a large or multiple payments have incorrectly (don't know the origin) been added to make it look to be in an overpayment scenario.

The opening balance is correct I think. It was in 2023 and the balance column is showing red as it should be.

And I reconcile the account every month to bank statement and they have been correct.

Here is the splits for this transaction. The rebate is showing as income. It looked like I had flipped the income vs expenses in this box, so I ran a cash flow report. The rebate is showing as income and the 2 other expense categories are showing as expenses.

If you've confirmed that the OB is correct, by opening an older backup file and comparing the 2 values, then there's a couple of possible explanations.

One or more payments to the account has been duplicated, OR
One or more charges to the account have been deleted, OR
One or more transactions in the account have been changed to a different amount.

Mathematically, those are the only options … since the math is behaving correctly as shown in your graphic.

The remedy is to pull out your old statements for the account and search backwards until you find the point that a statement, and the balance shown in Q, agree. Then, UN-reconcile everything after that point and re-reconcile — MONTH BY MONTH — until you find what happened.

Once you've found and corrected one problem, don't assume that's the only one … but reconciliations after that point should be pretty swift unless there's more errors.
