Quicken for Windows version [Removed-Beta Information], Windows 11, monitor resolution: 3840x2160
The Merge Category window is almost impossible to use and is too small to see. This window appears to be from the original Windows 3.1 version of Quicken. It is a flat representation of the category structure without navigation. The list opens at the top instead of the location of the category to be merged.
The new Category window accessible from the Tools menu is larger but no better functionally. The category list fails to take advantage of the category hierarchy for navigation, viewing, and editing. It seems to lack the ability to hide or expose subcategories. It should be possible to select one or more categories or nodes for editing. Simple edits should be possible within individual cells of the category list instead of using the Edit Window. The Edit window does not support multiple selected categories.
Making systematic edits in the new Category window is impossibly slow. Finding categories to merge in the old window requires a magnifying glass and a good sense of direction to figure out which way to scroll to find the category to merge into.
The old category window also pops up in other inconvenient points in Quicken workflow. Why was it not systematically replaced with larger "new" Category window? Why does the “new” category window lack modern navigation, viewing, and editing capabilities? Why is category update so slow in Quicken?
