When paying from a Bank Account there is a Check # Register Column Heading.
I virtually never use Check Numbers but you can put almost any character string in the Check # field. For years I have used DEP, D-DEP, D-DEB, ATM, INT, DCARD, E-PMT, TXFR with obvious meanings. Recently I created and began using SCHPUSH (Scheduled Push, instruction to bank to pay a payee) and SCHPULL (Scheduled Pull, permission to a payee to debit my bank).
Over the last 5 years or so I have experienced aggressiveness on the part of organizations like Comcast (AKA Xfinity) who increasingly try to pressure me into paying "automatically".
This may require me to break two golden rules I established shortly after I started my very first permanent job 60 years ago, namely:
- Always check my bills (before paying, of course!).
- Never agree to automatic recurring direct debits.
Now these organizations are trying to force/con me into agreeing to pay by credit card.
The problem is that there is no column in Credit Card accounts, other than Memo, which does not give the same degree of control. Memo is too general, Tags are too complicated.
The Check # field is perfect for the job, it just isn't available for Credit Card accounts,
OR can I add it somehow?
