I'd prefer not to use Quicken's online /cloud storage for my financial information. Until today (8/31/26) on the Windows Classic version R68.31, I could log in to my brokerage account, select to download X days of account activity and holdings to Quicken, and not have Quicken's online services involved. TODAY it would not let me download from the broker site until I logged into my Quicken account, which I only have because Quicken will not let me use their software without said account. They used to say that an internet connection was not needed to use Quicken, but that now appears false. Apparently, even if I have a downloaded Quicken-compatible file of my brokerage activity, I have to sign into my Quicken account to ingest that file into Quicken. That stinks to me like Quicken is loading all my Quicken data and activity into their servers DESPITE MY SELECTION TO NOT USE / TURN OFF ALL QUICKEN SYNC SERVICES. It appears that they are no longer interested in giving a choice - they are taking that data, likely massaging it for sale to data brokers without my knowledge or consent.
WHEN DID THEY MAKE THIS CHANGE TO THEIR POLICIES AND WHEN DID THEY NOTIFY ME THAT THEY WERE CHANGING A PREVIOUSLY "OFFLINE" TOOL TO "ONLINE" ONLY?!?!?!
BTW, they also tried to force me to "sync my account" before letting me sign in to this forum. When that page came up, I canceled the login, closed the community page, re-opened it, and I was signed in? [removed - profanity]is going on?!?!
