Citi credit cards mixing up transactions

Since Citi keeps both cards under the same login information, the activity is being recorded twice. The same information is being downloaded in each account.

When did you first notice this issue?
Were the accounts previously connected in Quicken and downloading correctly?
Are these accounts completely separate accounts under the same set of login credentials?
- Are these accounts shared accounts?
  - If they are shared, are you connecting them in Quicken using the primary cardholder's login credentials?

Thanks for your interest. It became very apparent when Advantage switched from Barclay's to Citi a few months ago. That put two cards on one login. Costco and Advantage.

@stephaneich I also went thru the Barclay to Citi conversion, but I had no other Citi Card so I didn't have any problems.

However, I have 2 cards from Chase, and when I log into Chase's website there's no commingling of the accounts. All transactions properly show under their particular card account, both at the website and in Q.

SO, when you log into Citi's website … what's showing there? Because if the transactions are separate there, and the online accounts are properly linked to accounts in Q, there shouldn't be any crossover between the 2 accounts.

Yes, that makes sense. I also had two Chase cards for a while and they generally kept things separate. The payments were often mislabeled so I had to keep track of which one was payed on which date. I can handle that.

They are clearly separate on the Citi website. The customer service person from Citi said it was a Quicken issue. I need to investigate "properly linked". Is there a way to see if the credit card numbers are correct in Quicken?

Tools, Account List and clicking EDIT next to an account will show you at least a partial (probably last 4 digits) account number for that account.

What you probably eventually need to do is, take a backup (just in case), then after clicking EDIT, click "Online Services" and Deactivate for each account.

THEN, after you've deactivated both, re-activate them (being sure to LINK to an existing account, not ADD an account) being sure to connect each online account to the correct account in Q.

[EDIT] I just realized that you're running QMac, and I gave directions for QWin. The QMac instructions should be similar … but I don't know exactly what they are. [/EDIT]

@stephaneich when I search for "Citi" "Advantage", or "Costco" in the list of available financial institutions in Quicken, I see many listed. What you can try is connecting with a different FI for each credit card. The key is finding a different FI that will work for the credit cards separately.

For example, under "Citi" I see a "Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi" and two different FIs for "AAdvantage". If possible, try activating each card separately using a different FI.
