I was recently searching for when I bought my Apple TV 4K. The search pegged all of the CPU cores and returned almost 24K results, most of which do not contain the text for which I searched. Is this a bug? Should I report it?
The failure of any Q search that contains both alpha and numeric characters is longstanding, and well known.
And your vast results are probably because it matched on just the number 4
Report it if you feel like it … but this isn't new info.
@MSStateDawg to add to what NotACPA stated, when you choose "Any field", that includes the Amount column.
I found a way to exclude the Amount column in searches and avoid this issue. When you are in the Search Window, click on the register icon in the upper right and deselect "Amount". After you do that, the Find "Any Field" command will default to exclude the Amount column. You can add the Amount column back in any time you want.
The quirkiness of this is that you can only exclude the Amount column in a Search Window. So to set it easiy, do a small search first to get the Search Window so you can exclude the Amount column.
I was going to suggest doing a search for just "Apple TV" or "Apple" or "TV". That will eliminate the inclusion of the numeric "4" in the search.
Or, make sure to narrow the search down to the Memo field (assuming that is where you would have noted what the purchase was for).
