OSU from Fidelity not working on all accounts

OSU randomly unlinks previously linked accounts. Only happens with Fidelity OSU. When I try to reset the accounts, I find them sometimes linked, sometimes not. In the reset process, I may find them unlinked, so I relink. Still no download. If I find the account is linked, I reset. Still no download. Once again, QuickBooks is causing unnecessary, ongoing pain.

To better assist you, could you please provide the following details?

Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?
- Please provide the exact file path as shown in the example below.

Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
Are you using a VPN while updating your accounts? If so, does disabling it make any difference?
Do you have any antivirus or malware protection software running that may be interfering with Quicken? If so, have you tried temporarily disabling it to see if the issue persists?
When did this issue first start occurring?
Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (updates, new installations, etc.)?
Does this affect all of your Fidelity accounts, or only certain account types (such as brokerage, IRA, 401(k), etc.)?
When the accounts become unlinked, do you see any specific error code or message, or do they simply show as disconnected/unlinked?
When this happens, are the affected accounts still visible under Tools > Account List, and do they show Fidelity as the financial institution?
Does this occur after a One Step Update, after restarting Quicken, or does it seem to happen randomly without any particular action?

Your answers will help us diagnose the issue more effectively.

Yes have malware and browser guard. no difference with them on or off
Started in the past month.
Noticed after last few updates
Can effect any fidelity accounts randomly both IRA and not.

Forgot to mention but i notice in the OSU confirmation of the account download that the accounts in question have 0 dollars even though they are linked.

@es114 In the last sentence of your original post, you reference QuickBooks … SO, is this issue happening in QuickBooks or Quicken, which are entirely different products?

Also, I have 6 accounts at Fidelity Investments and I'm not seeing anything even remotely resembling what you're describing. SO, what specific product are you running and what RELEASE of that product? Click HELP, About Quicken for this info.

Since there is no error when doing the One Step Update, the next thing you can try is creating a New Data File to see if the same thing happens there. Below are the steps for creating the new file. You can click on the article linked in blue for additional details.

1. Choose File menu > New Quicken File.

2. Select New Quicken File.

3. Click OK.

4. In the File name field, enter the name of the new file then click Save.

After creating the new file, you will need to add your accounts with Fidelity. Once they are added, check to see if everything looks as it should or if you are seeing the same issues here. Since this happens randomly, you may need to test this over the next day or two to see if any of these behaviors present themselves.

Opened new data file. First pass looks like the missing sept transactions in some accounts appeared correctly. I cannot really use the file for many reasons not the least of which is loss of history, but I may copy and paste those transactions to my current file. Still need help as to why this is going on.

Thanks for testing that out.

In your original file, you said you had reset your Fidelity accounts. Have you gone through and fully Deactivated and Reactivated all of these accounts? If not, let's try that and see if it resolves the issues you are seeing.

To Deactivate an account

Select the Tools menu and select Account List....
In the Account List, select the account you want to deactivate, and then click Edit.
In the Account Details window, click the Online Services tab.
Click Deactivate next to the service you want to disable.
Click Yes to the message confirming if you want to disable this service. Note: If you do not receive this message, additional information is available below.

• Direct Connect users: If you are deactivating a Direct Connect account, you may see an additional prompt advising you to contact your bank to cancel the Direct Connect service. This is only recommended if you intend to deactivate an account permanently and need to contact the bank to stop any related fees..

I did contact support and created a new template. That did help for some transactions but not all. I then contacted Fidelity technical support and found that 18 of my accounts were not allowed access to quicken and two were. But oddly those 18 unchecked did allow access while the other 2 that were checked to allow access were blocked. When I unchecked the two boxes and ran an update I got the last missing data. Technical support at Fidelity will work on a fix and get back to me.

I'm also a Fidelity Investments client, and I'm puzzled about "18 of my accounts were not allowed access to Quicken".

Over the 35+ years that I've used Q and Fidelity, I've had many different types of accounts with them … and I've never heard of an account that can't be used with Q.

SO, may I ask what type(s) of accounts are these, and are they with Fidelity Investments, or Fidelity NetBenefits, or some other Fidelity entity.

I have 20 active accounts at Fidelity. None are Fidelity Net Benefits or more accurately my Net Benefits account was closed 12 years when I retired. Fidelity's security is not working in my case. If you go on their site, click on profile at the top right, then click on security, then scroll down to external data sharing, click on the right arrow and then click manage account access. You will find a page that lists your fidelity accounts and which you have allowed access to quicken. In my case, all but three accounts were granted access. But I AM getting Quicken downloads from them. For some reason I had to grant access to the three accounts I was not receiving data. They don't know why this is the case. They will get back to me, I hope.

My Fidelity Investment accounts are a mix of IRA accounts, Roth accounts, brokerage accounts and investment accounts.

FIW, I have also been experiencing the same issues with OSU for my Fidelity accounts as es114 has described, since early September 2026. I have also followed exactly the same troubleshooting instructions suggested by the Quicken support staff. The only difference is that I also have a Quicken NetBenefits account in addition to my other Fidelity Investment accounts.

The OSU download failures have seemed random. Sometimes they work, sometimes I have to reauthorize that specific account. What finally worked for me (temporarily) was to deauthorize all Fidelity accounts and then reauthorize them.

This worked for a few days, however now the Fidelity NetBenefits account will not update the daily prices while the other FI accounts download propperly I realize that the accounts held within the 401k NetBenefits account are not publicly traded, so the data flows through a different server, but why has it worked for decades and is now failing to download at least 2 to 4 times a week?

I hope that Quicken and/or Fidelity will be able to resolve this issue soon. If any of you have any suggestions that have not already been mentioned previously (other than a manual cut/paste from the website), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
