If I click on the "reset" button after executing a search for text in an account register, Quicken gives an alert "You have saved the last transaction you were viewing. Save it now?" even if no transactions were changed. In fact, after clicking "don't save", the alert appears a second time before it's finally dismissed. I'm assuming this is a bug and not a feature. Note that this happens inconsistently. Any fix forthcoming?

As you can see, it's been a longstanding issue. At this point the status of the enhancement is not indicative of a planned feature enhancement. That means all you can do right now is add your vote for it.

It seems I'm late to the party! For some reason a search for this topic did not yield your post or any other relevant discussions. Hopefully some activity in this thread may wake up the coders to resume work on this?

This may be a matter of semantics, but this really isn't a request for a product enhancement; it's a request for a bug fix.

This error message had me thinking my dementia is progressing faster than I thought, struggling to remember what transaction I edited. It's comforting to know it's Quicken and not me…

I don't think these are the same.

In the Idea that you posted it is that they need to give more information.

In @Waitingtoretire's post he is talking about the fact that a certain sequence can trigger a "false prompting" and also a second prompting. Both of which should never happen.

Even though you can post bugs here and the moderators might look at them and pass them along the official places to post bugs are by either contacting Quicken support or by using Help → Report a problem.

@Waitingtoretire Is the message you received "You have changed the last transaction you were viewing … " (not saved)?

I tried to replicate what you describe and I did not get any message. Was a transaction selected when you did the search? If so, what field if any was selected?

Ah, I see. I missed the "Reset" piece. That does seem more like a bug, than a system deficiency. Thanks for pointing that out.

But either way, I think Quicken needs to enhance its alerts to pinpoint the transaction in the other situation. I think they already flag the incomplete transaction, so then why not go to the extra step to identify it. (This should be discussed in another thread, but I just wanted to point it out).
