Schwab Brokerage security quotes on their website do not match Quicken One Step Update quotes over the last 48 hours. Periodic recurring problem. About a 3% difference in total value.
@Pat Marshall A specific example would be helpful. Please provide the security symbol, the quote shown by Schwab, the quote shown by Quicken, and when each quote was observed. Without a specific example, it's difficult to determine whether the difference is due to quote timing, market movement, or a quote-related issue.
10/12/26, 6:00AM EST
AMZN at Schwab 262.42, Quicken 255.79
ARCC at Schwab 18.56, Quicken 18.7835
LHX at Schwab 156.68, Quicken 152.83
PR at Schwab 23.03, Quicken 22.84
I want to know if there is ever a time that brokerage quotes should match Quicken quotes. And what is there about certain quotes that always match and others that do not.
@Pat Marshall If you have Quicken Premier or higher, it may be the "Real time quotes" option that is causing this issue.
The setting is on the Edit > Preferences > Investments page, and if it is enabled and you updated quotes when the market is closed, it downloads prices from after hours trading rather than the security's closing price.
Please let us know if that is your issue.
Also are you getting quotes for 10/12/26? You would need a crystal ball for that, because today is 10/10. Or do you have future dated transactions that might be contributing to this issue?
Date was 10/10. No future dated transactions. Real time quotes is not selected.
@Pat Marshall I think you asked the same or similar question here. Please see my answer in this thread (on 9/11). It explains the difference between the quotes from Schwab and Quicken.
@Pat Marshall If you are getting incorrect quotes for publicly traded securities from Schwab or another broker. you can set the securities to ignore prices downloaded from the broker. The setting is accessed from each security's Security Detail page - click on Edit details then Other Info and check the "Ignore prices from broker download" box.
If Schwab is showing premarket prices and Quicken is showing closing prices, neither price is necessarily wrong. The practical issue is whether you can configure the two systems to display comparable prices automatically.
@Pat Marshall If Schwab is displaying pre-market or real-time pricing while Quicken is displaying the most recent end-of-day closing price, then neither value is necessarily incorrect. They are simply reflecting prices from different points in time. For example, a stock that closed yesterday at $255 could be trading at $262 in the pre-market the next morning. Both prices are valid, but they are not directly comparable.
The more important question is whether both programs can be configured to show the same type of quote data. Schwab typically provides real-time or near real-time quotes when viewing your account, while Quicken generally relies on end-of-day quotes from its quote provider. Unless both applications are displaying prices from the same market session and timestamp, differences should be expected.
To evaluate whether there is an actual pricing issue, it would be helpful to compare the same security at the same date and time, ideally after the market has closed and the end-of-day data has been fully updated.
