# shares in portfolio overview (Quicken 2019)

I show number of shares in the individual accounts but the number of shares does not show up in the portfolio overview. How can I make it happen? The same for "Quote", "Price Day Change", and Price Day Change (%).

@Michael Spiegelman First, let's get on the same page by what you're referring to as "portfolio overview." Are you referring to clicking in the left sidebar on the "Investing" group heading? Or one of the subheadings, like "Brokerage" or "Retirement"? Doing that will display all your investments in the Portfolio tab of the main screen.
Now, on that screen, just below the graph, there are three filter settings. For middle one, what are you set to? If you are on "Group by Account", the Shares column (and the performance ones as well) will be blank. That's because each Account may have multiple securities, and adding the shares of different securities to show a total number of shares for an Account isn't a meaningful number. So you see something like this:
Now, click the little triangle next to the Account name, which will open up the securities held in that Account. Now you'll see your shares and performance values for each security:
Alternatively, if you change the middle Filter from "Group by Account" to "Group by Security", then you'll see the share and performance values for all your securities.
