Are you able to convert 2013 to the current conversion? What obstacles do you face when you do this?

Is there any issues when the conversion is made that would corrupt the data and not readable in the new version?

No.  If the original data file contains corrupt data or is not readable, the converted data file may also be corrupt or the conversion may fail.
