"Payee" history not updating

I am currently using Quicken Home and Business version R25.18, but I have been using Quicken for almost 15 years. When I enter a transaction manually and click on the "Payee" window, it shows me previous transactions dating back many years. If I click on a past Payee, it shows a very old entry in the payment or deposit column. I can edit that number to whatever is currently correct, but the old number in the Payee window never updates. Also, if I need to type in a new entry in the Payee window, this doesn't get saved there for the next time I might need to use it.
This isn't a serious problem, but it is a nuisance. Is there a way to get this to work correctly?

If you haven't already, I suggest you review your preference settings: select Edit > Preferences...

If the issue persists, I suggest you rebuild the Memorized Payee List: press the Shift key and select Tools > Memorized Payee List
Before making any significant changes to your data file, always save a backup: press Ctrl + B
