I am trying to add a loan and the product seems to loop

I do the following:

1. Choose add a loan...
2. Choose to add details manually
3. Enter details and hit next
4. Hit next on monthly payment screen
5. Hit next on payment reminder without selecting the option to automatically enter the transaction option
6. Hit Done on Loan Payment Reminder screen
7. The program takes me back to step 5. If I cancel the loan is deleted. If I hit next, the same Loan Payment Reminder screen appears.

Any thoughts?

The 1st instruction says to enter Ctrl-Shift-H but that brings up the find and replace screen. I am running build 27.1.25.21 R25.21

I get to this screen, select next to create the reminder, select done and then I am returned to the reminder screen.

Here is the image of the reminder screen. When I select Done it returns me to the previous screen. My only options are Cancel (which deletes the loan, Back and Next which takes me to the reminder screen.

Also the latest Public Build for Windows 10, is Build 18363.752.

Open Settings, click Update and Security. Click on Optional Feature Build.

Optional Feature Build does not create Windows.old.

After I click Done on the Loan Payment Reminder screen, I am taken back to the Your Loan Reminder screen. It does not disappear no matter what I set the reminder options. I never receive the Account Added screen.

    Hi @rockville1019 ,

When you add the loan amount, are you using the Mouse to navigate around the Window?

    Hello @rockville1019

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue to the community, although I apologize for any frustration or inconvenience experienced.

If you haven't already, I would recommend creating a copy of your Quicken data file from the File menu > File Operations > Copy option.

When prompted, please open the copied file and then go back to the File menu > File Operations and this time select 'Validatea & Repair' from the menu.

In the window that opens, mark the top box "Validate file" only and click OK.

When the process completes, a data log will open, this log may be closed or saved for later, but when ready, please close and re-open Quicken, then attempt to add the Loan account once more.

You should now be able to complete the loan wizard without looping back to the create a reminder screen, but please let us know how it goes.

    Thank you,

    Sarah

Yes I am using the mouse.
  • thecreator
    thecreator SuperUser ✭✭✭✭✭

    This Window:

When entering the loan type, you can use the Mouse.
When entering the Opening Date, use the Mouse and onscreen Calendar.
When entering the amount, you can use Mouse with the onscreen Number pad.
For the current Interest rate, highlight the existing information and type in the Interest rate, without the percent sign and tab to the next field.
Enter the original length in years or months.
Enter the Payment Schedule. If Monthly, leave it and click Next, because the rest of the information is filled in.

The next screen is the Payment breakdown screen. I simply clicked Next.
I clicked through to the Reminder screen. Make sure you picked or select the correct Payment Account Register, the payment is going to be paid from.
    Click Done.

If you are not adding, a linked Asset Register, simply click Next.

Decide whether or not to Sync to Quicken Cloud for mobile & web access.
    Click Finish.

Thanks, but it did not work. I never get a Finish button. I select Done on the loan payment reminder screen and it brings me back to the Your Loan Reminder screen which is visible in the background.

I have another Quicken file that I use and I do not have the problem there, so it is something specific to the file that I am working on. Not sure what it is though. i will have to experiment so more.

It worked in the year end copy. I am going to have to play around with my current data file to see if I can figure out the issue.
