    feel stupid, but I am having trouble finding the menu bar. I have had trouble getting started, meaning I only have a side bar menu, and there is nothing about FILE on it.

    Thank you for reaching out on the community and telling us about your issue. I believe you're talking about the bar across the top of the screen with options. I'll leave a screenshot here where you would be able to find it.

    I believe you were looking at a previous thread on how to start a new file which I would recommend looking at.

    If I remember correctly there was a person where the system menu bar wasn't visible like you are reporting.  And the fix was to install the Mondo patch from here:
