Find (Ctrl-F) transaction functionality changed--for the worse

For years one could put the cursor in the Payee field, for example, hit Ctrl-F, and have the pop-up window pre-select that field as default rather than "Any" field. And highlighting the Payee in advance would automatically default to a search for that Payee specifically. Now, all of a sudden, the pop-up always defaults to a generic "Any" with a blank field. Much less convenient. Is there any reason for having changed this functionality??

    Wow, that was quick! Thanks. Not happy about it, but feel better knowing that it was deliberate and not just a coding glitch or something. I'd certainly vote the other way, if it ever comes up again to a vote:).

    Agree. This is clearly a function that people strongly prefer one way or the other. And obviously the code exists to do it both ways. So a user preference would settle this once and for all. Does an "idea" exist? If not, who wants to create it, @Chris_QPW , hint hint.

    I agree with Chris_QPW that Quicken designers should have added an option for how "Find" works. For years I have used CTRL-F to locate Payees, Memo field text, dollar amounts, etc.. I was accustomed to selecting the search field right in my transactions list before launching Find. Not a big deal, but now there's an extra step EVERY time I launch a Find - select the search field from a drop-down menu. How do I fall back to the prior version of Quicken Premier (before R27.28) until the "method option" is available.

    @jmpinternet I don't really recommend going back to an old version of Quicken for this problem.  You might miss important fixes waiting for them to change this, and there isn't any guarantee that they will change it or when.
    But if you still want to do it you can download and install an older Mondo patch version from here:

    Thanks, Chris. I agree there are risks in backing down to the earlier version, although I am not aware of any fixes in the newest version that might affect me, only the unfortunate change made in "Find." I'll just live with it in hopes that someone is reading these posts :)
