Problem with passwords.

I have been using Quicken Deluxe for many years without any issues. Lately I noticed 3 of my accounts are connected through Express Web Connection. When I update these accounts it seems the passwords have been saved somewhere and they never ask for the password. I have spent a few hours chatting with support deactivating, resetting and exporting and importing the database and still have this issue. Any help?

    Express Web Connect is Quicken talking to Intuit servers that in turn log in as you on the financial institution's website to get the transactions.  As designed the Intuit servers log in once a day to fetch the transactions and store them for later retrieval when Quicken asks for them.  This is done for a speed up and because some of the financial institutions want to restrict when the Intuit servers access their servers.

    At any rate that means that, yes in fact the Intuit servers cache your username and password and other information needed to log in the the financial institution's website.

    Well Express Web Connect supports 15,000+ financial institutions and only about 500 support Direct Connect.  Some financial institutions support both.  Also some support both, but also charge a fee for Direct Connect and not Express Web Connect.

    Quicken won't jump between Direct Connect and Express Web Connect without using interaction so they most likely were setup that way all along.

    Express Web Connect has always cached the usernames and passwords, but depending on things like 2 factor authentication and changes to the financial institution's website log in procedures it is possible that it "reacts differently".

    @Thobbs66 you can if the financial institution provides a Web Connect/QFX file. Not all do.  If your financial institution does provide a Web Connect file you can just deactivate that account for downloading and then import that file either by opening it in your web browser or File Explorer or by selecting:
    File -> File Import -> Web Connect (.QFX) File...
