no username available for an online bill pay vendor

In trying to set up an online bill vendor, I am asked to enter a "Username (not Email)." However, my login for this vendor is an email address. The vendor does not issue usernames. What do I do?

    It doesn't work. I get an Authorization Failed message. But it may be a problem on the vendor's side.
